ONLINE Therapy eliminates many of the barriers that can make in-person therapy difficult especially for seniors.
Online therapy is:
CONVENIENT: It can be done in your own home or anywhere there is a computer, tablet or phone.
ACCESSIBLE: Especially for people who are home bound or have physical limitations.
COMFORTABLE: Opening up and talking online may feel more comfortable than sitting and waiting in an office setting.
TIPS TO MAKE ONLINE THERAPY SUCCESSFUL AND PLEASANT
Have a quiet room with a door.
Be away from family and other distractions.
Use a computer with internet connection if possible.
Use headphones with a mic for clear communication.
Video session with your therapist where you see each other and talk with each other in a virtual face-to-face session (similar to ZOOM or Facetime) but in a secure – HIPPA-protected environment. To talk with your therapist via video conference, you will need to schedule an appointment time with your therapist and log in through your client portal (which we will set up once your information is confirmed).
You may sometimes want to have a text conversation with your therapist in real time. This way you can enjoy the convenience of messaging but also enjoy a “live” interaction that allows the therapist to respond and give feedback to you right away. To have a live chat, you will have to schedule a time with your therapist and log into your client portal at the agreed upon time.
Phone sessions are a good way to conveniently speak with your therapist using your land line or cell phone no matter where you are. To have a live phone talk with your therapist in live time, you will need to schedule an appointment with your therapist and log into your client portal at that time.
