THERAPIST
Hello, I have been a licensed professional counselor for over twenty (20) years working with troubled youth and their families. Recently, I have changed my focus to exclusively work with senior citizens. As a senior citizen myself, I understand, empathize and have experienced many of the issues facing seniors including grief and loss as friends and family members pass on, fear of one’s own death or disability as one ages and managing negative emotions such as depression, anxiety and loneliness, to name a few. All therapies are based upon established and recognized solution-focused methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Discussing your convers with a caring professional is essential in redirecting your life toward greater meaning and purpose. Our goal for each session is to promote growth and build upon the strengths you already have. No matter what the issue may be, I promise to listen deeply, respect your feelings and, above all, treat your concerns with dignity and confidentiality. Thank you. I look forward to meeting you. ~

There’s a Hole in My Sidewalk:
The Romance of Self-Discovery by Portia Nelson
Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter Two
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in… it’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault… I get out immediately.
Chapter Four
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter Five
I walk down another street.
